The CFMS is pushing the boundaries of healthcare. By harnessing the expertise of healthcare professionals, sharing best practices for utilizing CrossFit in addressing chronic diseases, and providing affiliates with resources and education, the CFMS strives to promote improved health outcomes for everyone. The CrossFit Medical Society is a nexus for providers to seek out a myriad of member benefits. We’ve talked about the Directories, creating a path for providers to connect with the CrossFit community around the globe. Here lies the hope to create patient-provider relationships built on the understanding that CrossFit is an integral part of any health strategy.
.
Continuing Education:
Above and beyond this, physicians and healthcare providers have access to continuing medical education credits via their physician portal. ACCME Category 1 CMEs are INCLUDED in yearly membership and offered through on-demand journal articles and monthly Grand Rounds.
.
Philanthropy:
Membership into the CFMS supports our student scholarship program providing opportunities for physicians and HCPs in training to obtain their CrossFit credentials. This will increase on campus activities, exposure to CrossFit, and how its effectiveness can be leveraged for the next generation of providers.
.
Networking and Engagement:
The ability to network and share best practices with other providers is an invaluable way to continue to grow, both as an effective provider and to explore new avenues of care provision.
All provider memberships have access to monthly Grand Rounds, which is eligible for CME/CE credits. Here, we'll explore case presentations and discussions of pertinent research. Additionally, the monthly newsletter will provide regular essays on topics of interest in our fields and highlight providers on the Directories showcasing the work that’s being done in the transition to Medicine 3.0.
.
The Future:
Most importantly, providers in the CFMS are part of the revolution. In whatever capacity you wish to engage, your support of the CFMS creates an opportunity for a new path forward, making the world a healthier place. Our student outreach program will provide scholarships for physicians in training to obtain their CrossFit credential and support on campus activities increasing exposure to CrossFit and how its effectiveness can be leveraged for the next generation of physicians.
The Directories
-
The CFMS has created two directories of practitioners who understand and believe the CrossFit methodology is a foundation for building health. The CFMS Directory includes MDs and DOs. The HCP Directory houses healthcare professionals from many disciplines. Both act as an informal referral system, enabling CrossFit affiliates and healthcare providers to refer clients to each other.
-
Physicians (MDs/DOs) who meet eligibility criteria (board certified/eligible, licensed, and in good standing) can choose to be listed on the CFMS Directory.
Other healthcare providers (see below) may also choose to be listed on the HCP Directory. HCPs must provide their license/certification establishing their ability to practice patient care.
Providers must have either an active CrossFit credential OR completed 12 hours of CME course work provided via the CFMS education portal. Providers who need to complete CME to be listed on the directory should sign up for the Healthcare Professional membership and complete the CME requirement.
